Dear citizens,

You may have head the buzzwords: ‘pop-up’, ‘meanwhile’, ‘transient’.
What do the words mean?
From temporary cinemas and community gardens, to
retail mini cities of stacked containers, our cities have seen
an influx of projects that make use of temporary spaces.
Who do these short-term projects serve?
Are they ever in the public interest?
Could we make better use of vacant spaces in the city?
And what is left behind once they disappear?

In this special one-off event, Matzine takes over the SIDESHOW space at Blackhorse Workshop for a night of lively debate. A line-up of expert contributors will debate the topic of regeneration and ‘meanwhile’ spaces. Join us for a fun and thought-provoking evening, have your say, and be part of an innovative publishing project. The debate and themes which emerge on the night will form the content for Matzine #14 Renaissance, to be released in early 2018. Get your tickets here!

Our panel for the evening include:
Tim Abrahams – Curator of the ‘Style: In Defence of…‘ talks at the Soane Museum
Dr Olivia Horsfall Turner – Senior Curator, Designs V&A + RIBA Architecture Partnership Lead Curator
Dr Crystal Bennes – Artist, Writer and Curator
Eddie Blake – Architect at Sam Jacob Studio
Lee Ivett – Director of Baxendale

*** Free with each ticket will be a beautiful small publication of 5 essays especially written by our esteemed guest contributors. The essays explore the theme of Renaissance.
